Louis Fabian Bachrach Jr., the man responsible for the iconic official portrait of President John F. Kennedy, passed away at the age of 92, the Boston Globe reports.
Originally, Bachrach showed up to the White House only to find out that the sitting with President Kennedy had been canceled, but he would not be dissuaded: "I went in to see his secretary and said, 'Please, don't do this to me. I've come all the way from Boston.' I waited for Kennedy for eight hours. When he arrived, he wasn't too pleased that I was there. He gave me only 10 minutes, but I had the pose all figured out beforehand -- a sitting pose. It became his official portrait."
