Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) will resign Monday at 5pm, The Hotline reports.
"Massa has been pressured by House Dems to step aside amid an ethics controversy that caused him to announce earlier this week he would not run for a second term."
Not only will the move allow Democrats to avoid a possibly embarrassing ethic inquiry during the campaign season, it means House Speaker Nancy Pelosi now only needs 216 votes to pass the health care bill.
Massa voted against the bill last year.
Update: The statement just posted on Massa's website makes clear he's resigning because of things he said to a staffer.
