Prominent Democratic pollster John Anzalone says in a new memo that Democrats "can salvage political goodwill from the messy and electorally painful health care bill, but only if they invest the time and resources necessary to convince voters it was a good idea to pass the mammoth package," The Hotline reports.
"A survey conducted across vulnerable Dem districts shows most voters warm to the proposal once they learn more about it... Included in the poll were 92 districts held by Frontline Dems and Blue Dogs, districts where Dem incumbents would feel the most heat for supporting the legislation."
Key point: "After hearing about some of the benefits of the plan however, support
for it among voters overall increases from 42% to 51%. Swing voters
were particularly receptive to information about the plan, with their
level of support rising from 35% to 50% after learning more about it."
