Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire (D) is on the short list to replace Solicitor General Elena Kagan, who has been nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court, according to The
Hotline.
Seattle Times: "An Obama administration official confirmed that Gregoire is on the list. Not clear who and how many other names are on it. Gregoire, who was Washington's attorney general before becoming governor, was long thought to be interested in a job with the Obama administration, perhaps in the Justice Department."
If Gregoire was selected and confirmed before October 3, there would be a special election for the remaining two years of her term in November.
