Clinton Talked to Sestak About Job Possibility

Senior White House advisers asked former President Clinton to talk to Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) "about whether he was serious about running for Senate, and to feel out whether he'd be open to other alternatives," Greg Sargent reports.

However, the White House "maintains that the Clinton-Sestak discussions were informal."

A formal statement will be released later today -- just before the holiday weekend -- "outlining their version of events, including Clinton's involvement."

The New York Times reports the job discussed was "a prominent, but unpaid, advisory position" because the White House wanted Sestak to remain in Congress.
