Compromise Reached on West Virginia Special Election

A last-minute compromise in West Virginia's legislature would set an Aug. 28 primary and Nov. 2 general election for the late Robert C. Byrd's U.S. Senate seat, the AP reports.

Key takeaway: The bill would allow Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) to run both for Byrd's seat and a sixth U.S. House term. The GOP considers her its top prospect for winning the seat.
