Tied in Georgia

A new InsiderAdvantage/WSB-TV poll in Georgia finds former Gov. Roy Barnes (D) is now tied with former Rep. Nathan Deal (R) in the race for governor, 42% to 42%.

Said pollster Matt Towery: "What this really boils down to is whether Barnes' status as a Democrat in a state where President Obama and Democrats in general are highly unpopular will keep voters in the Deal camp and turning out in higher numbers on election day. This poll in no way suggests that Deal is a 'cooked goose.' However, the race is clearly up for grabs and likely will be competitive until election day."

More problems for Deal: The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports Deal "faces such dire financial troubles that he must sell his home to avert foreclosure or bankruptcy."
