Brown Leads for California Governor

A new Los Angeles Times/USC poll in California finds Jerry Brown (D) leading Meg Whitman (R) in the race for governor by five points among likely voters, 49% to 44%.

Key point: "Brown has withstood Whitman's fusillade of negative advertising over the summer; the poll began only one week after Brown started airing his first television ads of the campaign."
