A new CNN/Opinion Research poll indicates finds Republicans have a 10-point lead over the Democrats in the generic congressional ballot, 52% to 42% -- slightly larger than the seven point lead Republicans had in 1994 when they took control of the House of Representatives.
Said pollster Keating Holland: "But unlike 1994, when polls indicated the public had a positive view of the Republican party, a majority of Americans now do not have a favorable view of the GOP."
Key finding: 46% of those surveyed have a favorable view of the Democratic party while just 44% have a favorable view of the GOP.
Also interesting: House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has an approval rate of 25%, one point less than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
Meanwhile, a new ABC News/Washington Post survey finds a closer generic ballot with Republicans leading by just four points, 49% to 45%.
