False Start for Gingrich Presidential Bid?

After the Des Moines Register reported Newt Gingrich will announce in Georgia on Thursday that he's forming an exploratory committee for a presidential bid, a spokesman later denied the story.

The odd denial specifically said "he will NOT announce the formation of an exploratory committee" but would discuss an American Solutions project with Gov. Nathan Deal (R). It's likely Gingrich will announce his intention to explore running for president but not formally file papers.

Jim Galloway: "One suspects that a possible conflict has been detected between's Gingrich's private affairs, involving American Solutions, and his public aspirations. Bottom line, reporters on Thursday will ask Gingrich whether he's entering an exploratory phase of a presidential campaign. What he answers is his business."
