Ensign Announcement Expected

Sen. John Ensign (R-NV) is scheduled to announce plans on what his office is calling his "political future" later this afternoon, the Las Vegas Sun reports.

Jim Geraghty: "If you were choosing to announce you were running for another term, would you pick the exact same spot from which you publicly admitted the affair?"

Update: Roll Call reports Ensign will announce his retirement.

Assuming Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) formally announces his Senate bid, Jon Ralston told us this could open up the door for Sharron Angle (R) to become the frontrunner for Heller's seat.
