Fox Moderators Take Most Time in Debates

A Smart Politics analysis of the last 10 Republican presidential debates finds that those moderated by Fox News rank first and second for the amount of time consumed by moderator questions and admonishments.

For example, last Thursday's Fox debate saw its moderators speak for 27:27, eclipsing the previous high water mark of 26:15 by Fox moderators during their Florida debate in September. The seven candidates on the stage last Thursday spoke for only 64:35 combined during the two-hour broadcast.

By contrast, the three CNN debates saw its moderators take just 13:21 in Nevada, 14:03 in Washington, D.C., and 17:38 in Florida.
