Hatch is Heavy Favorite for Re-Nomination

Sen. Orrin Hatch's (R-UT) strategy to increase turnout at Republican caucuses appears to have diluted the strength of Tea Party activists who pushed out Sen. Bob Bennett (R-UT) two years ago, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

In fact, a new Dan Jones and Associates poll of new delegates shows Hatch leading Dan Liljenquist (R), 62% to 16%.

About 4,000 delegates will vote at the convention April 21. A candidate can win the nomination before the primary if he or she gets 60% of the vote at the convention, otherwise the top two candidates face off in a June 26 primary.
