Mubarak Sentenced to Life in Prison

An Egyptian judge sentenced former President Hosni Mubarak to life in prison "for the killing of unarmed demonstrators during protests that ended his rule," the New York Times reports.

"It was the first verdict of an Arab ruler brought before the law by a popular revolt and for many Egyptians it may be the greatest achievement so far of the uprising that ended his rule."

The AP reports that, after the sentencing, the 84-year old Mubarak "suffered a 'health crisis' while on a helicopter flight to a Cairo prison hospital... One state media report said it was a heart attack, but that could not immediately be confirmed."
