Boustany Trounces Landry to Keep Seat

Rep. Charles Boustany (R-LA) crushed Rep. Jeff Landry (R-LA) in a runoff race, after being forced into the same district when Louisiana lost a congressional seat during redistricting, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

"Due to Louisiana's blanket electoral system, candidates are pitted against each other regardless of party. If none receives over 50 percent in the primary -- held on the national general election day -- the top two candidates advance to a runoff."
