Democrats Could Help Boehner Save His Job

"Some Democrats have said, a tad mischievously, that they'd be willing to rescue Boehner if he'd pass a 'clean' spending bill and allow a vote on the immigration reform bill that the Senate has already passed," the Los Angeles Times reports.

Said Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA): "I'd vote for him to remain speaker until the next election if he'd allow these issues to come to the floor."

Byron York reports the budget standoff is no longer about Obamacare and may be about Boehner keeping his job.

Said one House Republican: "I think the issue is, he's scared that those 30 people could somehow force a speaker's election. I don't know exactly, but clearly he thinks his speakership is a stake if he screws them."
