Boehner Sees Little Chance for Immigration Reform

"Facing growing resistance from conservatives, Speaker John Boehner cast strong doubt that he could pass an overhaul of the nation's immigration laws this year, leaving it to President Obama to win the trust of his balking Republicans," the New York Times reports.

Said Beohner: "The American people, including many of my members, don't trust that the reform that we're talking about will be implemented as it was intended to be. There's widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws, and it's going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes."

The Fix: "The truth of the matter is that immigration reform -- no matter what Boehner, President Obama or anyone else said -- always had a very tough path to passage in the House."
