“House Republicans on Thursday evening passed legislation that would keep the government funded until February and allocate $5.7 billion to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border,” the Washington Post reports.
“The measure would meet President Trump’s demand for border funding, which he is insisting on in any deal to avert the partial government shutdown set to start at the end of Friday. But it brings the government little closer to breaking a budget stalemate: Senate Democrats oppose the border funding and have more than enough votes to block the House measure.”
