Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-MO) lost the Democratic primary in Missouri on Tuesday night, falling to Cori Bush (D), an activist who entered politics after the Ferguson protests in 2014 and tapped into the recent energy of the Black Lives Matter movement to upset the 10-term congressman, the Washington Post reports.
Politico calls it “a huge win for the left and a seismic loss for the Congressional Black Caucus, which has tried to snuff out challenges from younger candidates.”
