About the Author

“How to Use the Internet to Change the World — and Win Elections” is written by Colin Delany, a 27-year veteran of online politics, a digital strategy consultant and the founder and editor of Epolitics.com, a website that focuses on the tools and tactics of internet politics and online political advocacy.

Delany got his political start in the Texas Legislature, where politics is considered a contact sport, and came to Washington, DC for the political side of the Dot-Com Boom. Delany now works with advocacy organizations, political campaigns and political groups in the U.S. and around the world as a consultant to help them leverage digital tools to achieve their communications, activism, advocacy, fundraising and electoral goals. His work supporting Democratic candidates in the 2020 election cycle won a political-industry Reed Award, and he is a sought-after speaker and trainer. This e-book reflects his own years of experience as well as lessons learned from campaigns and advocacy organizations across the political spectrum.

Delany’s previous e-books included “Learning from Obama” — the definitive guide to Barack Obama’s 2008 online campaign — and “Online Politics 101”, an early version of “How to Use the Internet to Change the World – and Win Elections”. Epolitics.com hosted over 2500 articles as of April 2023; the site was named “Best Blog – National Politics” at the 2007 Politics Online Conference and received a “Victory Award” as “Blog of the Year (non-Spanish-language)” at the 2012 Poli Conference. Besides being honored as one of the “Ten Who Are Changing the World of Internet Politics” at the 2010 World E-Gov Forum in Paris, Delany has spoken at venues ranging from Harvard University and the London School of Economics to the South By Southwest Interactive conference.

Delany also plays bass in a kickass rock & roll band in Washington, DC.
