Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) told Yahoo News that he merely was “talking metaphorically” when he tweeted “I’m grabbing my musket” if Donald Trump loses the election and not about actual violence.
Live from Trump Tower
Matt Bai explains how the Trump campaign’s nightly news show on Facebook isn’t only about reaching Trump’s voter; it’s about consolidating his new consumer base, too, which he describes as the “working-class consumer who watched his show and came to his rallies, who aspires to wealth but can never afford a room at the Trump International.”
“Trump’s feed, streaming live from the ‘war room’ in Trump Tower, is remarkable in that it self-consciously mimics everything about your conventional cable show. There’s lively banter between the hosts, a parade of genial guests who appear to have just dropped in, a platinum blond bomb-throwing commentator with no particular qualifications in anything. There’s breaking coverage of Trump’s evening rally, perfectly timed to make air. It shows you, basically, how easy it is for any moron with a laptop and a dream to perfectly imitate the cheerful vacuousness of most TV news.”
How Trump Is Actively Trying to Suppress the Vote
A must-read Businessweek piece explains how Donald Trump’s campaign has “three major voter suppression operations under way” aimed at three groups: idealistic white liberals, young women, and African Americans.
On Oct. 24, Trump’s team began placing spots on select African American radio stations. In San Antonio, a young staffer showed off a South Park-style animation he’d created of Clinton delivering the “super predator” line (using audio from her original 1996 sound bite), as cartoon text popped up around her: “Hillary Thinks African Americans are Super Predators.” The animation will be delivered to certain African American voters through Facebook “dark posts”—nonpublic posts whose viewership the campaign controls so that, as Parscale puts it, “only the people we want to see it, see it.” The aim is to depress Clinton’s vote total. “We know because we’ve modeled this,” says the official. “It will dramatically affect her ability to turn these people out.”
Trump Supporters Warn of Revolution
New York Times: “Big crowds still mob Donald Trump when he comes to town, with fans waiting in long lines to attend his rallies, where they eagerly jeer his Democratic rival and holler happily at his message.”
“But beneath the cheering, a new emotion is taking hold among some Trump supporters as they grapple with reports predicting that he will lose the election: a dark fear about what will happen if their candidate is denied the White House. Some worry that they will be forgotten, along with their concerns and frustrations. Others believe the nation may be headed for violent conflict.”
Quote of the Day
“No, I have no interest in Trump TV. I hear it all over the place. I have a tremendous fan base, we have a tremendous base. We have the most incredible people, but I just don’t have any interest in that.”
— Donald Trump, quoted by CNN.
Trump’s Biggest Fear Is Losing Status
New York Times: “The intense ambitions and undisciplined behaviors of Mr. Trump have confounded even those close to him, especially as his presidential campaign comes to a tumultuous end, and he confronts the possibility of the most stinging defeat of his life. But in the more than five hours of conversations — the last extensive biographical interviews Mr. Trump granted before running for president — a powerful driving force emerges: his deep-seated fear of public embarrassment.”
“The recordings reveal a man who is fixated on his own celebrity, anxious about losing his status and contemptuous of those who fall from grace. They capture the visceral pleasure he derives from fighting, his willful lack of interest in history, his reluctance to reflect on his life and his belief that most people do not deserve his respect.”
“In the interviews, Mr. Trump makes clear just how difficult it is for him to imagine — let alone accept — defeat.”
Trump Dismisses Accusations by Porn Actress
Donald Trump addressed the latest accusations of inappropriate sexual contact made against him by an adult film performer, CNN reports.
Trump Says Too Much Focus on Accepting Election Results
Donald Trump said “too much is being made about his refusal to say during the final presidential debate that he would accept the outcome of the election,” Politico reports.
Said Trump: “Yes, I think too much is being made. But, you know, everybody had me winning the third debate and the second debate handily, easily. And when I made that statement, I made it knowingly, because what’s happening is absolutely ridiculous.”
Trump Talks Again of ‘Totally Rigged’ System
“Donald Trump traveled to the site of the bloodiest battle of the Civil War, where he suggested that the United States is nearly as divided now as it was then,” the Washington Post reports.
“But instead of laying out his vision for uniting the country, as President Abraham Lincoln once did here, Trump declared that the system is rigged against him, that election results cannot be trusted, that Hillary Clinton should have been barred from running for president, that the media is ‘corrupt’ and that he will sue all of the women who have accused him of sexual assault.”
Trump Wants Campaign Statements Kept Out of Trial
Lawyers for Donald Trump are asking a judge in the upcoming fraud trial over Trump University to keep out any evidence relating to his presidential campaign, the San Diego Union Tribune reports.
“They covered much of what Trump has been saying over the past year or more, and what has been said and written about him as he pursues the presidency. The list included any evidence from campaign statements, speeches, advertisements, statements at debates and tweets from Trump’s very active Twitter account.”
Lawmaker Defends Trump Calling Clinton a ‘Nasty Woman’
Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) defended Donald Trump calling Hillary Clinton “a nasty woman” at the final presidential debate, saying “sometimes a lady needs to be told when she’s being nasty,” CNN reports.
Said Babin: “My assessment is that Mrs. Clinton has got so much baggage — I think she’s done some nasty things.”
A 10th Woman Accuses Trump of Inappropriate Touching
The day after Donald Trump said accusations of inappropriate sexual contact with nine women were “totally false,” a new accuser came forward and described an encounter in which she said Trump grabbed her arm and fondled her breast, the New York Times reports.
Trump Says He’ll Accept Results – If He Wins
Donald Trump opened up a campaign rally by saying he’ll accept the results of the presidential election as long as he wins, The Hill reports.
Said Trump: “I will totally accept the result of this great and historic presidential election.”
He then paused dramatically: “If I win.”
It’s Over for Trump
Philip Klein: “People often don’t like to proclaim events over until they officially are. And it’s true that the race isn’t technically over, in the same way that a football game isn’t technically over until the clock runs out, even if the losing team is down two touchdowns with no timeouts, with 1 minute left, and the leading team is in possession of the ball with a first down, and the quarterback is taking the knee. But everybody knows which way that game is going to turn out.”
“The same is true here. Trump’s act, which worked on a Republican electorate in a crowded field of candidates, failed miserably among a broader electorate. He’s lost — and the fat lady has already started singing.”
My Reaction to the Final Presidential Debate
The final presidential debate was actually a debate.
The main reason was that moderator Chris Wallace was excellent. He had near total control of the room. We had more substance out of this one debate than in all the previous debates combined.
The other reason it was a debate was that Donald Trump actually prepared for one. Trump was a completely different candidate for the first half of the debate. Had he acted like this over the last several months, this might be a closer presidential race.
On the substance, however, Hillary Clinton won most exchanges. She was more prepared and far more presidential. But she was not perfect and Trump exposed several of her weaknesses. Clinton had trouble on her support of “open borders,” on the Clinton Foundation’s conflicts of interest and on her ties to Wall Street.
But the third debate was really about comparing the two people who could be the next president.
Clinton started the evening cautiously, but as it went on she methodically started poking Trump. Her first dig was saying he “choked” in his meeting with the Mexican president.
Trump didn’t address the remark, which wasn’t like him at all.
Clinton next challenged Trump on his relationship with Russia and he nearly went ballistic. “You’re the puppet,” he yelled repeatedly. It’s worth noting that Trump refused to condemn Russia or Vladimir Putin. He even said he didn’t believe U.S. intelligence reports that Russia was behind hacking intended to influence the presidential election.
Trump’s reaction should scare every American. It’s not unreasonable to suspect that we have a presidential candidate who is beholden to a foreign power.
When Clinton repeated things Trump said about women who accused him of sexual assault and unwanted advances, Trump denied saying things we all heard him say.
When Clinton said Trump mocked a disabled reporter, he blurted out, “Wrong!” Of course, we’ve all seen the video many times.
Clinton was methodical in her approach, but she showed that Trump lies very easily and has major flaws as a person. He took her bait nearly every time. He even called Clinton “such a nasty woman.” By the end of the debate, Trump had collapsed into his basket of flaws.
But the scariest part of the night was Trump refusing to say he would abide by the election results, saying, “I will look at it at the time.”
Trump refused to commit to the peaceful transfer of power following an election. It was appalling and a massive political mistake.
Trump Once Praised Clinton as a ‘Great Senator’
Donald Trump has called Hillary Clinton’s two terms as a U.S. Senator a “disaster” but in a 2008 interview Trump praised her and Bill Clinton for their time in elected office, CNN reports.
Said Trump: “Well, I think her history is far from being over. I’d like to answer that question in another 15 years from now. I think she is going to go down at a minimum as a great senator. I think she is a great wife to a president. And I think Bill Clinton was a great president.”

Roger Ailes No Longer Advising Trump
Vanity Fair reports Donald Trump has lost one key ally: Roger Ailes.
“The former Fox News boss had reportedly served as an advisor to Trump throughout the campaign. He was said to have played a particularly important role as of late, helping him prepare for the presidential debates. That’s all changed now… The reason for the fallout depends on who you ask.”
