Gingrich Boosts His Speaking Fee

December 2, 2016 at 9:43 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Newt Gingrich’s speaking agency sent out a notice Thursday afternoon informing potential customers that the former House Speaker’s fee would increase due to his “insight into President-elect Trump’s philosophies, principles and objectives,” according to Playbook.

“If you want to book the former House speaker for a D.C. speech, it will now cost you $25,000 plus ground transportation. For speeches east of Chicago, he’s charging $60,000 plus first class travel for two, and for speeches west of Chicago, he’s asking $75,000 plus first class travel for two. It’s an increase of about $15,000, our source tells us. No wonder he wanted to stay out of the administration!”

November 28, 2016 at 7:43 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Newt Gingrich, who backs Rudy Giuliani for secretary of state, told the Wall Street Journal that the search for the nation’s top diplomat is playing out a bit like Donald Trump’s longtime reality show, The Apprentice, as he publicly mulls the candidates’ skill sets and invites “audience participation.”

Said Gingrich: “It’s the only place so far that we have seen him trying to do an open apprenticeship, if you will.”

Gingrich Says Trump Right to Question Rigged System

October 20, 2016 at 2:06 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Newt Gingrich defended Donald Trump’s unwillingness to say he’d accept defeat in the presidential election, CNN reports.

Said Gingrich: “I’d be a little bit cautious about automatically accepting that Hillary Clinton will be legitimately anything. We are in the worst cycle of corruption in American history, and in many ways, we resemble Venezuela and Argentina more than we resemble traditional America.”

Newt Gingrich stood by Donald Trump’s claim that the election is being “rigged,” blaming what he calls “the unending one-sided assault of the news media” on the GOP candidate, ABC News reports.

Gingrich Calls Machado the ‘New Benghazi Lie’

September 30, 2016 at 9:02 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Newt Gingrich called Hillary Clinton’s attack on Donald Trump for mocking former Miss Universe Alicia Machado’s weight “as false as Benghazi” and “the new Benghazi lie,” BuzzFeed reports.

Said Gingrich: “I think as fascinating to look at how the elite media bought — this is the new Benghazi lie — what Hillary tried to set up, and what they spend apparently months preparing was an ambush that was as false as Benghazi. It was as false as her claim she was under fire in Bosnia. It was as false as the lies she told about her emails.”

Newt Gingrich is already discrediting Hillary Clinton’s promised released of additional medical documents, Politico reports.

Exchange of the Day

August 9, 2016 at 3:00 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Newt Gingrich was asked about Donald Trump in an interview with the New York Times:

BARBARO: Does he have the mental fitness, the kind of psychological suitability to the office of the presidency?

GINGRICH: [pause] Yeah, and my answer would be, sure.

BARBARO: Sure?

GINGRICH: Sure. I mean, he is at least as reliable as Andrew Jackson, who was one of the most decisive presidents in American history. Nobody would have predicted Abraham Lincoln’s capabilities before he became president and most people didn’t believe him while he was president.

BARBARO: Can you be more forceful than “sure?”

GINGRICH: [pause] I think that Trump has a willingness to break up a system which is decaying. I think the kind of personality that is prepared to be outside the total establishment and have the self confidence to take on the establishment of both parties is a personality which will by definition not be normal. It will not be a good, corporate managerial, go-along-and-get-along kind of guy, and that’s what you guys mean by temperament.

Gingrich Warns Trump Won’t Win Without Changing

August 3, 2016 at 2:39 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Newt Gingrich, one of Donald Trump’s most loyal defenders, “warned that his friend was in danger of throwing away the election and helping to make Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton president unless he quickly changes course,” the Washington Post reports.

Said Gingrich: “The current race is which of these two is the more unacceptable, because right now neither of them is acceptable. Trump is helping her to win by proving he is more unacceptable than she is.”

He added: “He cannot win the presidency operating the way he is now. She can’t be bad enough to elect him if he’s determined to make this many mistakes.”

“Who cares? The fact is Melania gave a good speech, she is stunningly attractive, she’s stunningly articulate, and most of the people who are criticizing her can’t speak five languages. She’s a bright person, she introduced herself in a way that’s attractive, and she’s obviously very passionate about America.”

— Newt Gingrich, quoted by New York Magazine, on Melania Trump’s speech that lifted parts of a speech by Michelle Obama.

The campaign also owes more than $400,000 for Gingrich’s personal security to the Patriot Group, and $128,000 to the Winston Group… Several other well-known names are also among Gingrich’s creditors, including former Rep.
