Former President Donald Trump put out a statement praising Don Bolduc (R), who is running for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire, even though GOP leaders have been pushing for Gov. Chris Sununu (R) to run for Senate.

A new Saint Anselm poll in New Hampshire shows Gov. Chris Sununu (R) with a 49% to 41% lead over Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) in a potential 2022 matchup for Senate.

Former President Donald Trump told conservative radio host Howie Carr that he wants New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) to challenge Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) next year.

Said Trump: “I’d like to see him run… He probably would poll the highest.”

A new University of New Hampshire poll finds Chris Sununu (R) and Sen. Maggie Hassan (D) locked in a tight race, 49% to 48% — if Sununu decides to run.

Washington Examiner: “Sununu, the GOP’s coveted 46-year-old recruit, is undecided about mounting a 2022 bid after three successful gubernatorial campaigns in just four years (New Hampshire still limits its chief executive to two-year terms.)”

“But gradually, Sununu is dipping his toes into the national political waters and feeling out a race against Hassan, suggesting however much the governor might legitimately ‘hate’ Washington, waging the potentially decisive battle for control of an evenly divided Senate intrigues him.”

The New Hampshire Democratic Party launched a messaging campaign regarding Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) wooing of Gov. Chris Sununu (R) to run for the U.S. Senate in 2022, the New Hampshire Union Leader reports.

Politico: “Sununu has the potential to be the most important Republican recruit of the cycle. He’s an incumbent three-term governor fresh off a 30-plus-point victory last year in a state Biden carried with relative ease. And he’s political royalty in the Granite State, the son of a former governor and White House chief of staff as well as the brother of a former senator.”

Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) is trying “to establish her independent bona fides as she faces a tough re-election battle in New Hampshire next year,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“She has put daylight between herself and the Biden administration and signed on to high-profile bipartisan legislation while promoting the most popular aspects of Democrats’ agenda, like vaccine funds and stimulus checks. Hassan broke with the White House on its plan to end U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan, saying withdrawal shouldn’t be based on arbitrary deadlines.”

“And she was one of eight Democrats to vote against an amendment raising the hourly minimum wage to $15, a level sought by President Biden that passed in the House.”

In another match up, Hassan leads former Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R), 48% to 43%.

A side note: Sununu blamed Donald Trump for the January 6 Capitol riots and could be denied the GOP nomination if Trump forces mobilize to block him.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) took a baby step closer to a U.S. Senate run in 2022, telling a radio talk show host he’s “definitely open to it,” the New Hampshire Union Leader reports.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) told reporters it would be “maybe six, seven months from now” until he makes a decision about challenging Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) for her seat in 2022.

Sununu is considered a top recruit for Senate Republicans.

Corey Lewandowski announced he will not run for Senate in New Hampshire after flirting with a bid for most of 2019, The Hill reports.

After speaking to President Trump, Corey Lewandowski tells WMUR that he’s likely to run for U.S. Senate from New Hampshire against Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH).

Said Lewandowski: “All of these factors are pointing me in one direction. That direction, if I had to make the decision today, is to run.”

“President Trump retweeted a pair of posts from his former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski ahead of an evening rally in New Hampshire — where state Republicans fear Trump will promote a potential Senate run by his divisive ex-aide,” Politico reports.

Corey Lewandowski is considering a 2020 run for a U.S. Senate seat in New Hampshire now held by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Reuters reports.

“Lewandowski ran Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016 for a time and has remained close to Trump throughout the president’s first years in office.”

“Retired Brig. Gen. Don Bolduc (R) announced Monday that he would run for the U.S. Senate in New Hampshire against Democratic incumbent Jeanne Shaheen, setting up what may be one of the marquee congressional races of 2020,” CBS News reports.
