NBC, CBS, Fox News and CNN said they will air the Democrats response after they and other networks agreed Monday to air the president’s prime time address on the “humanitarian and national security crisis” at the U.S.-Mexico border, USA Today reports.
Networks Agree to Carry Trump’s Address Live
“The major television networks said that they will provide wall-to-wall coverage of President Trump’s prime time address on border security on Tuesday,” CNN reports.
“NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS and Fox broadcast network all said on Monday that they had agreed to the White House’s request for air time. CNN, Fox News and MSNBC will all carry the address live, as well.”
“Following news that the networks would air Trump’s immigration address, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a joint statement that they should be given an equal amount of time to respond.”
Networks Haven’t Committed to Airing Trump Address
MSNBC, NBC, CBS and ABC have not confirmed plans to air President Trump’s Oval Office address to the nation regarding the government shutdown and “border crisis,” The Hill reports.
However, Fox News, Fox Business and CNN all confirmed that the prime-time speech will air on their channels on Tuesday night.
Advertisers Flee Tucker Carlson’s Show
“The Fox News host Tucker Carlson has lost advertisers after saying on the air last week that allowing certain immigrants into the United States ‘makes our own country poorer and dirtier and more divided,'” the New York Times reports.
“By Tuesday, 11 companies said they would stop advertising on his prime-time show, Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Trump’s Supermarket Propaganda Weapon
Jim Rutenberg: “The most powerful print publication in America might just be the National Enquirer. It functioned as a dirty-tricks shop for Donald J. Trump in 2016, which would have been the stuff of farce — the ultimate tabloid backs the ultimate tabloid candidate — if it hadn’t accomplished its goal.”
“The Enquirer’s power was fueled by its covers. For the better part of the campaign season, Enquirer front pages blared sensational headlines about Mr. Trump’s rivals from eye-level racks at supermarket checkout lanes across America.”
“Wondering what The Enquirer’s covers were worth to the Trump campaign, I called Regis Maher, a co-founder of Do It Outdoors, the national mobile and digital billboard company. He said a campaign with that level of national prominence would cost $2.5 million to $3 million a month.”
Trump Says Unfair Coverage Should Be Tested In Courts
President Trump ripped “one sided” and “unfair” media coverage, saying it should be tested in courts, The Hill reports.
Said Trump: “A REAL scandal is the one sided coverage, hour by hour, of networks like NBC & Democrat spin machines like Saturday Night Live.”
He added: lIt is all nothing less than unfair news coverage and Dem commercials. Should be tested in courts, can’t be legal? Only defame & belittle! Collusion?”
Weekly Standard Shuts Down
The Weekly Standard, the magazine that espouses traditional conservatism and which has remained deeply critical of President Trump, will shutter after 23 years, Clarity Media Group, the owner of its publisher announced Friday morning, CNN reports.
It will publish its final issue on December 17.
Trump Cancels Christmas Party for the Press
“President Trump has canceled the White House holiday party for the media, making the decades-old tradition a victim of his increasingly contentious relationship with major news organizations,” Fox News reports.
“The annual Christmas-season gathering was a significant perk for those covering the White House, as well as other Washington reporters, anchors and commentators, and New York media executives would regularly fly in for the occasion.”
National Enquirer Surprise Deal Could Imperil Trump
Politico: “Based on court documents and a plethora of media reports, Trump and his aides have worked for years with the tabloid to kill incriminating stories. AMI’s CEO David Pecker also had a decades-long copacetic friendship with Trump.”
“Legal experts say that could mean more legal peril for Trump, who has already been implicated in directing Cohen to work with the National Enquirer during the 2016 campaign to pay women in exchange for their silence about alleged affairs.”
National Enquirer Admits to Paying Off Playboy Model
Federal prosecutors said in a filing that the National Enquirer admitted to “working in concert” with the Trump campaign to pay off a woman who said she had an affair with Mr. Trump in order to squash her story, CBS News reports.
The company “admitted that its principal purpose in making the payment was to suppress the woman’s story so as to prevent it from influencing the election.”
Fate of ‘The Weekly Standard’ Uncertain
“The fate of The Weekly Standard, the conservative magazine that has staked out a position as a publication on the right still critical of President Trump, is uncertain, Editor-in-Chief Stephen Hayes told staff in a series of phone calls Tuesday,” CNN reports.
CNN Chief Wants to Run for Office

While panel shout-fests are nothing new at CNN, this exchange between Scott Jennings and Max Boot is really something.
Fox & Friends Fed Interview Script to EPA Chief
“Former EPA administrator Scott Pruitt was clearly taken aback last year when occasional Fox & Friends fill-in host Ed Henry grilled him about a number of ethical scandals facing his administration,” the Daily Beast reports.
“And Pruitt had a good reason to be surprised. In past interviews with President Trump’s favorite cable news show, the then-EPA chief’s team chose the topics for interviews, and knew the questions in advance. In one instance, according to emails revealed in a Freedom of Information Act request submitted by the Sierra Club and reviewed by The Daily Beast, Pruitt’s team even approved part of the show’s script.”
Trump Suggests U.S. Create Network to Take on CNN
President Trump suggested the United States should create a “worldwide network” to combat the “unfair” way the country is treated by the media, saying CNN doesn’t have enough competition overseas, Politico reports.
Said Trump: “Throughout the world, CNN has a powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair and false way. Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!”
‘Morning Joe’ Co-Hosts Wed In Secret Ceremony
‘Morning Joe’ co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough married Saturday evening in a “secret” ceremony at the National Archives in Washington D.C. “in front of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights,” Vanity Fair reports.
“Part of the popularity of the Scarzinski relationship derives from the fact that, despite their prominent roles as hosts of perhaps the most influential news program in American politics, their romance has been handled with militant discretion… This discipline has lent the duo an unexpected celebrity air, rendering them a sort of Branjelina of the political-media in-crowd—a credential more or less certified when Donald Trump offered to have them married at the White House during a visit in 2017. They declined the offer.”
Michelle Wolf Slams Trump
President Trump celebrated the White House Correspondents’ Association’s decision to have biographer Ron Chernow headline this year’s dinner after “so-called comedian Michelle Wolf bombed so badly last year,” USA Today reports.
