Biden Administration Rebuffs Michigan Officials
“Amid Michigan’s worst-in-the-nation coronavirus surge, scientists and public health officials are urging the Biden administration to flood the state with additional vaccine doses,” Stat News reports.
“So far, though, their plea has fallen on deaf ears. Instead, the federal government is sticking to a vaccine-allocation strategy that largely awards doses to states and territories based on their population.”

One of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) accusers spoke out for the first time to the Albany Times Union about Cuomo groping her at the governor’s mansion.
She said Cuomo’s hand went under her blouse and grabbed her breast over her bra.
She added: “And that wasn’t just a hug. He went for it.”
Arkansas Enacts Treatment Ban for Transgender Youth
“The Arkansas Legislature has overturned Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s (R) veto of a ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth, with a majority of both chambers voting to override in largely party-line votes Tuesday afternoon,” the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports.
Associated Press: “Hutchinson vetoed the bill following pleas from pediatricians, social workers and the parents of transgender youth who said the measure would harm a community already at risk for depression and suicide.”
Abbott Bans Vaccine Passports In Texas
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) issued an executive order prohibiting so-called “vaccine passports,” saying a system to track those who have been inoculated against COVID-19 infringes on citizens’ rights, The Hill reports.
Matt Gaetz Opposed Bill Banning ‘Revenge Porn’
While serving in the Florida Legislature, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) opposed a bill meant to stop people from sharing sexually explicit images of their ex-lovers because Gaetz believed that recipients of those images had a right to share them, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Arkansas Governor Vetoes Transgender Bill
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) announced he vetoed a bill that would ban gender-affirming care for transgender youth because it “interfered with the relationship between doctors and patients,” the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports.
He also called the bill a “vast government overreach” and a “product of the cultural war in America.”
Washington Post: “The bill, which is part of a wave of similar legislation across the country, would have banned doctors from providing transgender minors with gender-affirming treatments such as puberty blockers, hormone therapies and transition-related surgeries, or referring them for such treatments. Republican lawmakers in at least 17 other states have introduced similar bans on medical treatments for transgender minors, despite opposition from major pediatric and psychiatric organizations.”

Florida’s Covid Statistics Look Fishy
Yahoo News: “New research published earlier this month in the American Journal of Public Health argues that Florida is undercounting the number of people who died from COVID-19 by thousands of cases, casting new doubt on claims that Gov. Ron DeSantis navigated the coronavirus pandemic successfully.”
“They came to that conclusion by comparing the number of estimated deaths for a six-month period in 2020, from March to September, to the actual number of deaths that occurred, a figure known as ‘excess deaths’ because they exceed the estimate.”
