“Senators are nearing an agreement to vote on the House-passed debt-limit bill as soon as Thursday night, sending it to President Joe Biden’s desk and narrowly avoiding a June 5 default by the U.S. government,” Punchbowl News reports.
“The structure of the agreement came together relatively quickly Thursday. A group of GOP defense hawks demanded a public commitment from Senate leadership to take up a supplemental defense spending bill this year focused on Ukraine funding and other priorities, including Israel and China.”
