Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said that Senate Republicans are eager to tweak the state-and-local-tax deduction language in the House’s reconciliation bill, Punchbowl News reports.
That brought dramatic reaction from two blue state Republicans.
Said Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY): “If the Senate unravels the House’s hard-fought $40,000 SALT cap deal, it would be like digging up safely buried radioactive waste — reckless, destabilizing and sure to contaminate everything around it… Disturbing it now risks poisoning the entire package.”
Said Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY): “If they change the number, I’m going to be a no.”
