Deadline Pressure Mounts on Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill

“President Donald Trump said this morning that Congress shouldn’t leave town until Republicans send him the One Big Beautiful Bill, a declaration that will probably result in Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune canceling part of the July 4 recess,” Punchbowl News reports.

“Thune has already said the Senate won’t leave for the July 4 break until GOP senators pass a reconciliation bill.”

“But Thune and Johnson are running into problems that threaten Trump’s high-profile deadline. Thune and Senate GOP leaders haven’t nailed down the final text for the package, which is still undergoing a Byrd Bath by the Senate parliamentarian.”
