President Trump’s “one big, beautiful bill” passed the House Budget Committee tonight — the vote was 17 to 16 — after four conservative holdouts voted “present,” the Washington Post reports.
The Rules Committee meets tomorrow or Wednesday, then it goes to full House vote later this week.
“Speaker Mike Johnson and House leaders are racing to salvage their GOP megabill from another embarrassing setback just hours away from a rare 10 p.m. Sunday night vote,” Politico reports.
“A rebellion of four ultraconservatives tanked a key Budget Committee vote Friday afternoon. It served a devastating blow to President Donald Trump and GOP leaders — blocking the massive legislation spanning Trump’s domestic policy agenda after the president publicly called on Republicans to unite behind it and advance the megabill without delay.”
President Trump expressed his condolences after former President Biden announced he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
Said Trump: “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

Former President Joe Biden was diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer, according to a statement from his personal office Sunday, and it has spread to his bones, CNN reports.
Biden and his family “are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”

“Some consumer prices will likely rise due to tariffs, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent acknowledged on Sunday, even after the White House publicly warned retailers against it,” Axios reports.
“Russia targeted Ukraine on Sunday with one of its largest drone bombardments of the war, an apparent show of force only a day before President Trump is expected to talk with President Vladimir V. Putin as he pushes Russia to accept a cease-fire deal,” the New York Times reports.

Trump came close to winning young voters—those under age 30—in 2024, a sharp reversal from his 25-point loss among young voters in 2020. He also made gains among Black, Hispanic and other minority groups, losing by a far smaller margin than in 2020. And he improved his showing among seniors.”
