Kathy Hochul to Endorse Zohran Mamdani

September 14, 2025 at 7:18 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is soon expected to endorse New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani,” CNN reports.

“Hochul’s endorsement would make her the latest high-profile Democrat and the most powerful in the state to back the 33-year-old democratic socialist’s campaign. It would also put new pressure on other high-profile Democrats withholding their backing of Mamdani, notably House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, both Brooklyn residents.”

China Pushes for Trump Visit

September 14, 2025 at 6:58 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“For two months, Chinese diplomats have courted the White House, hoping to lock in a visit by President Trump to China that would grant leader Xi Jinping a significant diplomatic victory,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“In return, the U.S. administration has straightforward demands, the people said: tangible concessions, or ‘deliverables,’ from Beijing on everything from trade to TikTok.”

“So far, China has conceded little. Now, a crucial round of trade talks in Madrid is poised to reveal whether Beijing is finally ready to give some ground, or if it intends to press on with its delicate maneuver to secure a presidential visit by offering up as little as possible.”

Pete Buttigieg told Meet the Press that President Biden “should not have run” for reelection in 2024, but conceded that “it was literally his decision” to do so.

Said Buttigieg: “He should not have run. And if he had made that decision sooner, we might have been better off. But it literally was his decision.”

He added: “I was not included in the process of deciding whether the president should run again. He made that decision and I think I’m not alone in believing that he should have made the decision not to run sooner.”

Inside Stephen Miller’s Reign of Terror

September 14, 2025 at 11:44 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Rolling Stone: “More than seven months into Trump’s second term, Stephen Miller has become America’s — if not the world’s — most powerful unelected bureaucrat. With Trump’s blessing, Miller has been allowed to run and remake the country in a manner virtually unheard of for a U.S. government official of his rank. Think of any egregious policy from the Trump administration: Chances are, it was driven by Stephen Miller.”

“All of it bears Trump’s signature, but the president is not the one spending his nights writing executive orders and bending legal theory to his will; nearly all of this bears the authorship (or, at least, co-authorship) of Miller. Everything you loathe or love about Donald Trump’s America, you hate or cherish about Stephen Miller’s republic of fear.”

Cox told The Atlantic he had no doubt the alleged shooter’s worldview had been warped in some very dark corners of the internet.

Quote of the Day

September 14, 2025 at 11:15 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“People have got to stop framing simple policy disagreements in terms of existential threats to our democracy. You can’t call the other side fascists and enemies of the state and not understand that there are some deranged people in our society who will take that as cues to act.”

— Speaker Mike Johnson, on Fox News.

Fetterman Says Democrats ‘Have Forgotten Why We Lost’

September 14, 2025 at 7:24 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Sen. John Fetterman has a warning for his party: learn from the politically charged whirlwind that put Donald Trump back in the White House and secured Republicans control of both chambers of Congress or risk staying in the minority,” CNN reports.

Said Fetterman: “They have forgotten one of the reasons why we lost in 2024.”

He added: “Some people think now we have to double down on those things or we must become more progressive or more extreme. That’s absolutely not true. The seven or eight states that are going to determine who’s going to be our next president, you know, we have to win in those states, and I understand what that takes.”
