Everyone should feel comfortable about posting comments on Political Wire. That’s why we reserve the right to delete comments and ban users as needed to keep the comment threads here civil and substantive.
The most important rule is a very simple one: Don’t be a jerk.
Here’s what we like to see in comments:
- Weigh in with smart, informed ideas that contribute further to the story.
- Demonstrate and share the intelligence, wisdom, and humor we know you possess.
- Don’t feed the trolls. Down vote their comments instead.
- Constructive criticism is fine, but if you spot a typo or an error, send an email and we will correct it.
Here are some of the kinds of comments we’re going to do our best to curtail:
- Please stay on topic. Hijacking a conversation is not appropriate. If you have a suggestion for a story, send an email.
- Promoting your own product, blog or podcast.
- Impersonating authors or other commenters.
- Comments that make it clear you didn’t read the article.
- Threats — no matter how vague — against other commenters.
- Trolling.
It’s impossible to be everywhere at once, so please abide by these rules. Thanks for reading Political Wire!
