Schumer Eyes Spending Bill Vote In Two Weeks
Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) is planning to bring President Biden’s social and climate spending bill to the floor as soon as the week of Dec. 13, The Hill reports.
“Schumer’s plan is to bring the bill, known as Build Back Better, to the Senate floor once Democrats finish their conversations with the parliamentarian, who provides guidance on what can be included in a bill passed through budget reconciliation.”
Politico: “Schumer has also noted that schedule is contingent upon completing work with the parliamentarian, who will determine whether the bill runs afoul of the budget reconciliation’s protections from a filibuster. Some provisions, most notably immigration, could get stripped out of the House-passed bill before it comes to the Senate floor if they don’t pass muster with reconciliation rules.“

Chris Christie Says Trump Didn’t Get Much Done
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) sharply criticized President Trump’s administration, saying it “didn’t get a lot of stuff done,” Axios reports.
Said Christie: “Like, let’s just go through the list of things. The wall isn’t built. Obamacare is still there. We didn’t get an infrastructure package done that we wanted, so now we’re stuck with theirs.”
He added: “And that’s a problem. That management style is a problem. I have no problem in the main with the policies that were followed by the Trump administration, that they attempted to implement. I really think they were very, very solid.”

Former President Trump put out a statement challenging apparently anyone to a debate:
Said Trump: “It’s really interesting, everybody wants me on television, I get the highest ratings by far, they need ratings to survive, and yet I put out a challenge to debate me about the massive election fraud, which took place in the 2020 Presidential Election, and there are no takers-think of it, zero takers for the so-called ‘ratings machine.'”

Mark Meadows Agrees to Cooperate with House Committee
“Former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has reached an initial deal to cooperate with the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, providing documents and agreeing to testify before the panel,” The Hill reports.
CNN: “The move represents a critical shift in the relationship between the top Trump ally and the panel, and staving off a criminal contempt referral for now.”
Playbook: “We’re curious to hear what Trump has to say about this. The ex-president hasn’t taken kindly to close associates testifying about him in the past. Meadows has long been one of his closest allies and more than likely will refuse to answer certain questions that Trump argues are privileged. Still, could this be the beginning of a frayed Trump-Meadows relationship? “

How Conservative Media Makes Up News
Jim Swift: “Over the weekend, Conservatism Inc. found a new scandal to promote: A false report that Nancy Pelosi had purchased a $25 million mansion in Florida, home to 2024 hopeful, Gov. Ron DeSantis and former President Trump. To underscore: This story is false. Nancy Pelosi has not bought a $25 million mansion in Florida.”
“But watching how the fake news blew through the conservative ecosystem is illuminating.”
Pence 2024?
Peter Nicholas: “A 2024 Pence campaign looks futile no matter the scenario. If Trump runs, he’ll rally the same MAGA zealots who refuse to believe he lost the last election. And if Trump opts out, Pence isn’t his natural successor; he may have spoiled any hope of inheriting the Republican base when he defied Trump on January 6. Scanning the Republican universe, it’s hard to detect a glimmer of a Pence-for-president movement of any sort.”
“Which leaves GOP operatives asking a version of the same question: What in the world is Mike Pence thinking?”
