Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) called the Pentagon’s release of documents related to UFOs “shiny object propaganda” as the Trump administration wages “foreign wars,” NewsNation reports.
Said Greene: “I’m so sick of the ‘look at the shiny object’ propaganda while they wage foreign wars, let rapist and pedophiles run free, and ruin the value of our dollar. Unless they roll out live aliens and test demo UFOs or actually admit what we know this really is then I have way better things to do on this Friday.”
She added: “The most transparent administration in history still hasn’t released all the Epstein files or arrested anyone, but rolled out some UFO files today so you would get so excited that you forgot you are paying over $4.50/gallon because they are fighting another foreign war they said they would no longer fight.”
“Alabama lawmakers approved a plan Friday for new U.S. House primaries if courts allow the state to use different congressional districts in this year’s elections, sending the legislation to Republican Gov. Kay Ivey,” the AP reports.

“The two most consequential races in California have devolved into twin spectacles, with years of visible dysfunction hollowing out Democrats’ case for competent leadership,” Axios reports.
“California is the ultimate paradox of Democratic rule. A state of immense wealth, innovation and cultural power is increasingly unable to deliver the basics of housing, public safety and disaster response.”
Former Vice President Kamala Harris told the crowd at an event hosted by the Nevada Democrats that the war in Iran is “bullshit,” CNN reports.
“A Minnesota state lawmaker is asking a powerful House committee to subpoena US Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for refusing to cooperate with an investigation into her possible ties to Somali fraudsters who bilked Twin Cities taxpayers out of $250 million,” the New York Post reports.
Dan Pfeiffer: “Look, this is a big blow, and I’m not going to sugarcoat it, but Democrats can still win the House and might even be slight favorites. We currently have a 6-point advantage in the generic ballot.”
“Democrats have been outperforming Kamala Harris’s 2024 numbers by about 13 points in special elections and maintain a sizable enthusiasm advantage going forward. Democrats are fired up. Republicans are divided and depressed. These court rulings don’t change the basic reality that the American people think Trump and the Republicans are doing a terrible job, are focused on all of the wrong things, and want a change in Washington.”
“The hurdle is higher, but Democrats can absolutely still get over it. This sucks, but all is not lost.”
President Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a three-day ceasefire starting tomorrow, which he said was requested “directly by me” and agreed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“President Trump has signed off on a plan to fire Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary, according to people familiar with the matter, following a tumultuous period for the regulator that included clashes over vaping, abortion and drug policy,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“ABC has accused the Federal Communications Commission of violating its free speech rights, potentially setting the stage for a protracted, high-stakes legal battle between the network and the Trump administration,” the New York Times reports.
“House Democrats fell into a state of anguish on Friday after the Virginia Supreme Court struck down a congressional map that would have netted them as many as four seats in the 2026 midterm elections,” Axios reports.
“The decision is a huge boost to Republicans’ chances of keeping the House in November, with even some Democrats acknowledging they basically need to run the table in November to win now.”
The Pentagon released what it called “new, never-before-seen” files on U.F.O.s on Friday, hailing the step as an example of the commitment of the department, which kicked out reporters earlier this year, to transparency, the New York Times reports.
“The U.S. military said it struck two Iran-flagged unladen oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman on Friday, preventing the vessels from entering an Iranian port in violation of a U.S. naval blockade,” CNBC reports.

The Virginia Supreme Court has invalidated the April 21 redistricting referendum, striking a devastating blow to Democrats who stood to gain four new blue seats from the voter-approved map, Punchbowl News reports.
The vote was 4-3.
The court ruled that the Democratic-controlled legislature did not follow proper procedure for enacting a constitutional amendment.
Rick Hasen: “There does not appear to be any further recourse to change Virginia’s maps before the 2026 elections, dealing a blow to Democrats in the gerrymandering wars recently supercharged by the Supreme Court’s decision in Callais.”

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that the U.S. is expecting a response on Friday from Iran on the proposal to end the war,” CNBC reports.
Said Rubio: “We should know something today… We’re expecting a response from them.”
He added: “We’ll see what the response entails. The hope is it’s something that can put us into a serious process in negotiation.”
Wall Street Journal: “The U.S. job market blew past expectations again in April, buoyed by gains across industries including retail, transportation and warehousing, and healthcare.”
“The U.S. added 115,000 jobs in April, the Labor Department said Friday, far exceeding expectations.”
President Trump spoke to reporters:
REPORTER: Have you been briefed on the hantavirus?
TRUMP: Yes I have.
REPORTER: What have you learned?
TRUMP: Ahhh — it’s very much we hope under control.
REPORTER: Should Americans be concerned it’s going to spread? TRUMP: I hope not. We’ll do the best we can.
