“President Donald Trump said Tuesday that America will not invest money in Iran after a Memorandum of Understanding was agreed with Tehran,” CNBC reports.
Said Trump: “We are not investing any money in Iran, by the way, and with that rumor got out there yesterday was ridiculous. We have the right to go in some day and do, if I want to do something, or if somebody wants to do something, but we are not investing any money.”
“French President Emmanuel Macron revealed he had a ‘difficult’ meeting with President Trump on Monday evening,” the New York Post reports.
“The tension in their one-on-one meeting is reflective of the strained relationship Trump has with Macron and other European leaders, who remain frustrated that the American president started a war with Iran, has threatened to annex Greenland, and expressed sympathy for Russia in its war with Ukraine.”
“Nearly half of Americans say they don’t consider themselves a part of either major political party, the highest level of partisan independence measured by CNN polling in more than a decade,” CNN reports.
“Independents have grown to 47% of the population, rising roughly 10 points since just after President Donald Trump’s first term as president.”
“Though President Trump declared on Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen and be ‘permanently toll-free,’ Iran indicated on Monday that it intended to charge fees for unspecified services in the strait,” the New York Times reports.

That would kick off the countdown to a confirmation vote as soon as the first full week of August. Grassley said in a statement on Monday he expected his panel to hold Blanche’s hearing in July.”

“President Donald Trump’s nomination of Todd Blanche to lead the US Justice Department was met with cautious optimism by a key Republican senator who has repeatedly split with the administration on other issues,” Bloomberg reports.
“Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina, a member of the Judiciary Committee, said he’s ‘generally satisfied’ with Blanche’s paperwork and plans to meet with him next week.”
“CIA Director John Ratcliffe told President Trump and other senior officials that intelligence gathered by U.S. intelligence agencies raised serious doubts about Iran’s willingness to make the nuclear concessions the U.S. is seeking in any final deal,” Axios reports.
“Ratcliffe isn’t the only skeptic in Trump’s top team. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have both expressed concerns and raised questions about the deal in internal discussions, while Vice President Vance and U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner advocated for it.”
New York Times: “A decade before America’s 250th anniversary, Congress created a bipartisan commission to coordinate the festivities. The commission, named America 250, was supposed to build infrastructure projects, produce educational materials and facilitate “all fitting and proper activities” for the celebration.”
