Precision U.S. Strikes Hit Iranian Water Facility

June 11, 2026 at 3:53 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

New York Times: “Strikes early Wednesday destroyed what appears to be a drinking-water facility on Iran’s southern coast, near the Strait of Hormuz… Around the time of the strikes, the U.S. Central Command said in a post on X that it had conducted attacks near the strait ‘with precision munitions from U.S. Air Force and Navy fighter jets…'”

“It is unclear if the U.S. intentionally struck the water facilities, or knew what was in the buildings. Deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure could constitute a war crime under international law.”

Phillips O’Brien: War crimes seem to be official U.S. policy now.

Trump Unveils the UFC ‘Claw’ Ahead of Cage Match

June 11, 2026 at 3:46 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

New York Times: “The White House welcomed reporters and influencers from around the world onto the South Lawn for half an hour on Thursday morning to inspect the towering, claw-like superstructure that has been built there for the Ultimate Fighting Championship bout that President Trump is hosting on his 80th birthday this weekend.”

“While the president sat inside the White House, fulminating about the war in Iran — “We will be taking Kharg Island,” he threatened online — dozens of people wandered dazedly inside the monsterama he built out back, trying to get a sense for how Sunday’s showdown will play out. It is sure to be a night unlike any other in Washington history.”

Huge ‘8647’ Etched Into Grass on the National Mall

June 11, 2026 at 3:44 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

CNN: “The numbers ‘8647’ — a phrase generally used to signal opposition to President Donald Trump — appeared etched into the grass on the National Mall on Thursday, days before massive crowds are expected in the area for a UFC match on Trump’s birthday on Sunday.”

Postal Service Proposes Blocking Some Mail Ballots

June 11, 2026 at 3:42 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“The U.S. Postal Service has proposed a new rule that would allow it to refuse to deliver mail ballots in states that don’t turn over voter rolls to the federal government,” the New York Times reports.

“The rule, proposed last week, is vaguely written but appears to establish broad authority for the agency to intervene in the mail voting process. It calls on states to compile lists of mail voters that Postal Service employees would use to screen ballots for eligibility. If states refuse to comply, the agency could refuse to send their mail ballots.”

“Democrats and voting-rights groups say the proposed rule is clear evidence that the Trump administration is trying to unconstitutionally intrude on state-run elections.”

Kash Patel’s Big Test Is the World Cup

June 11, 2026 at 3:38 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Reuters: “With 48 teams, 36 base camps and 11 stadiums, the World Cup, which kicks off on Thursday, is one of the biggest security challenges the FBI has ever faced.”

“That’s before you account for 3 million visitors, including heads of state, not to mention threats from drones, spies, terrorists, drunken fans, cartels or pyrotechnics.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Tests Her Message for 2028

June 11, 2026 at 3:37 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

CNN: “The New York congresswoman is truly undecided about what she’ll do in 2028, when she can run for president or for the seat held by Sen. Chuck Schumer. But Ocasio-Cortez, 36, is positioning herself to try to reach nationally beyond the deepest blue parts of the Democratic base — and making clear in private that whatever she decides, she has no interest in being merely a protest candidate.”

“Whatever she runs for — including possibly just re-election to her ultra-safe House seat, which has provided quite the platform already — she says she wants to make sure she wins. Same goes for any candidates she backs. And for legislation she gets behind.”

A Grim Milestone

June 11, 2026 at 3:35 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

New York Times: “The war in Ukraine has often been compared to World War I for its brutal infantry assaults and heavy casualties. Yet the idea that it could, by any measure, surpass a conflict so long and bloody that French soldiers hoped it would be “the last of the last” once seemed unthinkable.”

“That is just what happened on Thursday. The war in Ukraine — which reached 1,569 days, or more than four years and three months — has now outlasted World War I.”

Congress Is Increasingly Defying Trump

June 11, 2026 at 3:33 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Congress is increasingly defying Donald Trump’s agenda as Republicans race against a ticking clock to keep their trifecta heading into November,” Politico reports.

“Trump’s made a spate of calls for sweeping changes that have fallen flat on the Hill in recent months. His push to eliminate the filibuster doesn’t have the votes, a fact Senate Majority Leader John Thune has repeated. Calls to replace the Senate parliamentarian landed on deaf ears. And it’s a big zilch on his push to eliminate the blue slip privilege on judicial nominations.”

Biden’s Mexico Ambassador Almost Ran for President

June 11, 2026 at 3:32 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“For nearly four years, Ken Salazar — the U.S. ambassador to Mexico under former President Joe Biden — grew increasingly frustrated with the White House’s border plan,” Politico reports.

“Salazar says he begged for a ‘border czar’ to run point on interagency coordination; he never got one, and instead, the moniker was inaccurately and problematically affixed to then-Vice President Kamala Harris. He asked for the White House to openly call it a border ‘crisis’; the designation came too late.”

“Salazar became so distraught that by July 2024, three weeks after Biden’s disastrous presidential debate performance, he decided to take matters into his own hands: ‘I should run for president,’ Salazar told himself, according to his forthcoming book.”

Trump Calls Off Iran Strikes Planned for Tonight

June 11, 2026 at 2:16 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Donald Trump said the final points of a deal with Iran have been approved by “all parties,” adding that he would call off “strikes and bombings” against the Islamic republic, the Financial Times reports.

Said Trump: “Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have . . . cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings.”

Trump Picks Jay Clayton as National Intelligence Director

June 11, 2026 at 2:14 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“President Donald Trump on Thursday said that he is nominating Jay Clayton to become the next permanent director of national intelligence,” CNBC reports.

“Clayton is currently the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and is the former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.”

How Trump Has Deceived Himself on Iran

June 11, 2026 at 1:36 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Aaron Blake: “He painted Iran as desperate to cut a deal, which always seemed to be right around the corner. And he repeatedly gave Tehran the benefit of the doubt, relaxed his own deadlines, walked back his threats and downplayed Iran’s provocations and apparent ceasefire violations.”

“The problem with that approach was it made it pretty clear that Trump lacked the will to go back to war — that he preferred to just be done with it all, even as Iran played on his reluctance.”

“And it increasingly appears as though Trump hoping against hope just delayed an inevitable return to the kind of hostilities that have resumed this week.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene Says Trump is a Traitor

June 11, 2026 at 1:34 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said that President Trump and many of his allies should be considered “traitors to the American people” for fighting against the release of the Epstein Files, The Wrap reports.

Said Greene: “I’m not surprised by this news… because I also had a very uncomfortable phone call with the president before the release of the Epstein Files, where he told me his friends would get hurt if the Files were released, and I’ll never forget that.”

Senate Panel Approves ‘Department of War’ Name Change

June 11, 2026 at 1:32 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“The Senate Armed Services Committee voted this week to formally change the Pentagon’s name to the Department of War, moving a significant step closer to solidifying President Donald Trump’s rebrand of the Defense Department as permanent,” Politico reports.

Hunter Biden’s Life After Shame

June 11, 2026 at 1:00 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Helen Lewis: “How much grace should we extend to people who screw up—like, really screw up? After many years as an addict and a general failson, Hunter Biden’s history includes felony gun convictions, tax evasion, smoking crack, and smoking Parmesan cheese that he thought was crack. But in the past few weeks, the son of the former president has launched a new career as—a sober counselor? A life coach?”

“Since reviving his dormant X account on May 19, the younger Biden has fully embraced a persona he soft-launched last year, when the Gen Z influencer Andrew Callaghan interviewed him about his past drug addiction. His strategy is not to deny his past transgressions, but to flagellate himself so thoroughly for them that no one else can land a hit.”

JD Vance’s Top Aide to Leave

June 11, 2026 at 11:57 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

NBC News: “Jacob Reses, the chief of staff to Vice President JD Vance, will leave the administration at the end of the summer.”

Inside Trump’s Crypto Playbook

June 11, 2026 at 11:38 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Risking little of their own money, President Trump and his sons have added at least $2.3 billion to the family fortune from their main crypto ventures, while the investors they’ve wooed have taken a $2.3 billion hit, a Reuters examination found.

Trump Isn’t Giving Up on His Slush Fund

June 11, 2026 at 11:32 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Sarah Fitzpatrick: “Behind the scenes, Justice Department and other Trump-administration officials have quietly assured allies that plans for some form of payout remain on track.”

“I spoke with eight people familiar with the so-called Anti-Weaponization Fund—including current and former Justice Department officials, current and former members of Congress, a defense attorney, and political operatives close to the administration. All said that Justice Department officials and people close to the White House have indicated that the payout idea has not actually been scrapped.”

“Rather, they say, officials are exploring whether elements of the fund can be reactivated while also examining alternative arrangements to make sure loyalists get compensated.”
