Romney Son Mulls Run for Utah Governor

January 5, 2016 at 11:30 am EST By Taegan Goddard 20 Comments

Josh Romney (R), the son of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, told the Deseret News that “running for governor in 2020 is definitely something I am strongly considering. What others do will not affect my decision-making process.”

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) “said in a recent interview with the Deseret News that he wants to return to Utah and run for governor rather than stay in the House and try again for a leadership position or make a run for the Senate.”

Romney Son Interested in Elected Office

April 22, 2015 at 12:53 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 49 Comments

Josh Romney, son of 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, told the Deseret News that he won’t challenge Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) in next year’s U.S. Senate race but said he’d like to see another Republican run against the first-term senator.

He also confirmed he’s interested in running for office someday.

Said Romney: “Politics is in my blood, unfortunately. It’s something I’ve seen and I’ve loved. I’m not sure what I’d do, or what capacity I’d run in, but I’m definitely looking to it.”
