June 23, 2022 at 8:37 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“As late as last year, Mayor Eric Adams (D) still shared ownership of a Brooklyn co-op that he previously claimed he transferred to a friend,” Politico reports.

“The turnabout marked the latest chapter in the mysterious personal life of the new mayor of the nation’s largest city — a saga that involves overnight stays in a government building; a public tour of a cluttered, subterranean apartment; and late nights at the home of a friend with a checkered past.”

How San Francisco Became a Failed City

June 8, 2022 at 11:00 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Nellie Bowles: “I do need you to love San Francisco a little bit, like I do a lot, in order to hear the story of how my city fell apart—and how it just might be starting to pull itself back together.”

“Because yesterday, San Francisco voters decided to turn their district attorney, Chesa Boudin, out of office. They did it because he didn’t seem to care that he was making the citizens of our city miserable in service of an ideology that made sense everywhere but in reality. It’s not just about Boudin, though. There is a sense that, on everything from housing to schools, San Francisco has lost the plot—that progressive leaders here have been LARPing left-wing values instead of working to create a livable city. And many San Franciscans have had enough.”

San Francisco Prosecutor May Be Recalled

June 6, 2022 at 11:56 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“District Attorney Chesa Boudin declared his 2019 election victory a call by voters for radical change. He promised to do more than lock up criminals and embarked on a progressive agenda to reduce incarceration rates and scrutinize police misconduct,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“On Tuesday, Mr. Boudin faces voters again, in a recall election backed by business owners unhappy with his performance. Polls indicate his ouster is supported by the majority of residents in a famously liberal city that has seen, along with the rest of the nation, a spike in murder and other crimes.”

San Francisco Chronicle: Chesa Boudin’s recall is in the national spotlight.
