April Freeman (D), who was running for a House seat in a heavily Republican district in Florida, has died a little more than six weeks before the November elections, Reuters reports.
She had been due to face state Senator Greg Steube (R) in the Nov. 6 elections to succeed Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL), who decided not to seek a sixth term in Congress. State law allows party officials five days to convene a meeting to name a replacement candidate.
