A set of new CBS News/YouGov polls in the early voting states show Donald Trump and Ted Cruz with big leads.
Iowa: Cruz 40%, Trump 31%, Rubio 12%, Carson 6%
New Hampshire: Trump 32%, Cruz 14%, Rubio 13%, Christie 11%, Kasich 8%, Bush 6%, Paul 5%
South Carolina: Trump 38%, Cruz 23%, Rubio 12%, Carson 9%, Bush 7%
“The backdrop to all this is a mood of anxiety – both economic and personal security – pervading the GOP electorate in these early states. Nine in ten in all states feel the country is now a more dangerous and insecure place, including 95% of Iowa GOP voters who say that, and nine in ten feel the nation’s economic system is one that hurts them instead of benefits them.”
