A new CBS News/YouGov poll shows that nearly 59% of Americans think that the criminal investigations into Donald Trump are an effort to keep him from winning the White House next year.
Nonetheless, 57% also believe they are about upholding the rule of law, and 52% say they are about defending democracy.

Goddard earned degrees from Vassar College and Harvard University. He lives in New York with his wife and three sons.
