Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has lost a motion to table the effort to oust him as speaker, 218 to 208.
Democrats were unanimous in voting against the motion. They were joined by 11 Republicans.
The action means the House will now move forward with a vote on whether McCarthy should lose his position.

Goddard earned degrees from Vassar College and Harvard University. He lives in New York with his wife and three sons.
