“The gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday was identified by the FBI as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pa., but officials released no additional information about him,” the New York Times reports.
“The gunman did not have a criminal history reflected in Pennsylvania’s public court records, and officials said they had not identified a motive. A voter-registration record showed that Mr. Crooks was registered as a Republican.”
Reuters: “Crooks’ father, Matthew Crooks, told CNN that he was trying to figure out what happened and would wait until he spoke to law enforcement before speaking about his son.”
A video filmed by a bystander and verified by The Washington Post shows the body of a man lying on the roof of a building a little more than 400 feet from where Trump was speaking during the rally.
