Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle gave a bizarre explanation for why Donald Trump’s would-be assassin managed to get on a nearby roof, ABC News reports.

Said Cheatle: “That building in particular has a sloped roof, at its highest point. And so there’s a safety factor that would be considered that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof. And so the decision was made to secure the building from inside.”

Goddard spent more than a decade as managing director and chief operating officer of a prominent investment firm in New York City. Previously, he was a policy adviser to a U.S. Senator and Governor.
