“The Trump administration is releasing Alexander Vinnik, a cybercriminal who last year pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering, to Russia as the ‘exchange’ for retrieving the American schoolteacher Marc Fogel,” the New York Times reports.
“Vinnik is a nonviolent offender and is forfeiting tens of millions of dollars in assets in the exchange.”
