“Todd Blanche’s attorney general nomination is on the brink after Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) announced Friday that she would oppose confirming him,” Politico reports.
“The Alaska Republican said in a statement that she did not believe Blanche, who has been serving as acting attorney general since April, would act to rein in President Donald Trump and reverse the ‘politicization—even weaponization’ of the Justice Department that has ‘accelerated’ under Trump.”
Wall Street Journal: “Blanche’s fate now could rest with Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), an undecided senator who recently lost his re-election bid to a Trump-endorsed challenger. It isn’t clear when Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who has been recuperating from a fall and a bout of pneumonia, will return, and he hasn’t announced his position on Blanche.”
CNN: Murkowski to oppose Todd Blanche nomination, narrowing his path to confirmation.
