GOP Lawmaker Warns Over Medicaid Cuts

“The House Republican who represents the highest percentage of Medicaid beneficiaries in the GOP Conference is urging his colleagues to pull back on their ambitions to make deep cuts to the safety-net program,” Politico reports.

“Rep. David Valadao of California expressed deep concerns that many of his peers are pushing to pass a series of politically toxic, and ultimately doomed, proposals — ones that would put vulnerable Republicans like him, not to mention the entire Republican majority, at risk.”

Axios: “New internal GOP polling shows Republicans will have to be careful with how they message on any changes to Medicaid, with U.S. voters opposed to spending cuts to the program — even when framed as an effort to lower national debt.”
