April 24, 2025 at 1:39 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Donald Trump may be the most famous person on the planet and leader of the free world, but he could be deeply disappointed when he sees the seating plan for the funeral of Pope Francis,” The Telegraph reports.

“The US president is hardly accustomed to playing second fiddle, but the arcane world of Vatican protocol suggests that he will not be in the front row of dignitaries when he arrives at St Peter’s Basilica on Saturday morning.”

“He might not even be in the second row.”

“As delegations from about 130 countries, including 50 heads of state and 10 reigning monarchs, make their way to Rome for the funeral, details are emerging of the seating arrangements and Mr Trump may have to settle for row three.”

Mike Johnson Opposes Millionaires Tax Hike

April 24, 2025 at 1:28 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) came out against a tax increase on millionaires, appearing to close the door on an idea that some Republicans have considered to pay for their massive party-line bill, NBC News reports.

Said Johnson: “I would not expect that. We have been working against that idea. I’m not in favor of raising the tax rates because our party is the group that stands against that traditionally. So there are lots of ideas thrown out on the table along this process over the last year, but I would just say for everybody, just just wait and see.”

April 24, 2025 at 1:09 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

The Wrap: “This is no accident: President Trump on Thursday said he will be meeting with The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg later in the day.”

“The meeting stands out, considering Goldberg was infamously added to a group chat last month among several Trump administration officials, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, in which strikes against the Houthis in Yemen were discussed. Goldberg was inadvertently added to the chat, on the messaging app Signal, by national security advisor Michael Waltz.”

April 24, 2025 at 12:30 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Said Santos: “Right now, my expectation is I’m going to prison for 87 months. I’m totally resigned.”

He added: “The president knows my predicament. It’s not like it’s a secret. If the president thinks I’m worthy of any level of clemency that is bestowed upon him, he can go ahead and do it, but for me to seek a pardon is to deny accountability and responsibility.”

April 24, 2025 at 12:24 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

New York Magazine: “Though the Trump administration is playing hardball in public, a recent misstep in court filings shows that there are some internal concerns about the strength of its case to end congestion pricing.”

“On Wednesday, attorneys for the federal government seemingly filed an internal memo from Justice Department officials that laid out the weaknesses of the case in striking detail.”
