Hegseth Routinely Passed Out from Alcohol Abuse

January 21, 2025 at 4:28 pm EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Pete Hegseth, President Trump’s pick to run the Pentagon, regularly abused alcohol to the point that he passed out at family gatherings, and once needed to be dragged out of a strip club while in uniform, according to an ex-relative’s account of his behavior,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“The sworn statement, submitted in response to a request from Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, was signed by Hegseth’s former sister in law, Danielle Hegseth.”

“It states that she was with Hegseth when he passed out from drunkenness in the bathroom of a bar in Minneapolis in about 2013. It also describes another night, when she said Hegseth drank so much at a restaurant in Minneapolis that the Uber driver had to pull over on Interstate 94 so he could throw up.”

New York Times: “A handful of Republicans who have learned of the accusations in recent days have privately raised serious concerns about them, suggesting that the new information could potentially sap the necessary support for his approval by the Senate.”

Trump Orders Plan to Speed Permitting of Projects

January 21, 2025 at 4:24 pm EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“President Donald Trump ordered steps to expedite federal permits in his opening bid to entice American investment and shrink timelines for building critical energy infrastructure,” Bloomberg reports.

“Trump’s directive, issued late Monday, marked the latest attempt by a US president to address longstanding, bipartisan complaints over the lengthy waits for proposed projects to clear environmental reviews and secure federal authorizations. It’s long been an aggravation for business leaders who say relatively slow permitting times in the US threaten to diminish domestic efforts to race ahead of global rivals in driving artificial intelligence developments and nurturing other nascent industries.”

Federal Employees Union Sues Trump

January 21, 2025 at 4:21 pm EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“The National Treasury Employees Union said on Tuesday that it has sued President Trump to block an executive order that would enable him to fire career federal workers across the government,” the New York Times reports.

“The order signed on Monday evening, known as ‘Schedule F,’ would empower the Trump administration to strip job protections from many career federal employees — who are supposed to be hired based on merit and cannot be arbitrarily fired.”

“If that support holds for Mr. Martin, the chairman of the Minnesota Democrats, he would be just 25 votes short of the number necessary to win the party elections on Feb. 1.”
