“Five times, the Trump Foundation’s tax filings described giving a specific amount of money to a specific charity — in some cases, even including the recipient’s address. But when the Washington Post called, the charities listed said the tax filings appeared wrong. They’d never received anything from Trump or his foundation.”

Clinton CIA Chief Backs Trump
Bill Clinton’s former CIA chief, James Woolsey, will act as an adviser to Donald Trump’s campaign, The Hill reports.
Said Woolsey: “She demonstrated a complete lack of understanding and an inability to lead the agency she headed in such a way as to maintain its mission and security. Based on the emails thus far released we know that Secretary Clinton also lacks the ability to lead her senior managers while complying with and maintaining the basic protocols designed to protect our government’s sensitive and classified information.”
GOP Lawmaker Doubts Clinton Has Pneumonia
Rep. Gary Palmer (R-AL) told WAPI that he doubts whether Hillary Clinton’s campaign is being honest when they revealed on Sunday that the Democratic nominee has pneumonia.
Said Palmer: “They’ve tried to attribute the cough to bronchitis, they’ve tried to attribute it to pneumonia, but I sat in the Benghazi hearing for three hours. And she sat there and coughed her way through that. You know, again, you just look at the pattern and it just begs the question, are we being lied to again?”
Christie’s Personal Email Can Be Searched
Gov. Chris Christie’s “personal email must be searched — or he must prove that it already has been — to comply with the state’s open-records law, a Superior Court judge has ruled,” the Bergen Record reports.

Trump Suggests No Moderators at Debates
Donald Trump floated a new idea for his upcoming debates against Hillary Clinton, proposing a debate without a moderator to avoid a “very unfair” showdown because such a person would go “really hard” against him, Politico reports.
Said Trump: “I’m gonna get — be treated very, very unfairly by the moderators.”
He continued: “The fact is that they’re gaming the system, and I think, maybe, we should have no moderator. Let Hillary and I sit there and just debate because I think the system is being rigged so it’s gonna be a very unfair debate, and I can see it happening right now because everyone’s saying that he was soft on Trump.”

Trump Foundation Is Not Like Other Charities
Washington Post: “The Donald J. Trump Foundation is not like other charities. An investigation of the foundation — including examinations of 17 years of tax filings and interviews with more than 200 individuals or groups listed as donors or beneficiaries — found that it collects and spends money in a very unusual manner. For one thing, nearly all of its money comes from people other than Trump. In tax records, the last gift from Trump was in 2008. Since then, all of the donations have been other people’s money — an arrangement that experts say is almost unheard of for a family foundation. Trump then takes that money and generally does with it as he pleases. In many cases, he passes it on to other charities, which often are under the impression that it is Trump’s own money. In two cases, he has used money from his charity to buy himself a gift. In one of those cases — not previously reported — Trump spent $20,000 of money earmarked for charitable purposes to buy a six-foot-tall painting of himself. Money from the Trump Foundation has also been used for political purposes, which is against the law.”
Trump Plans to Stay Quiet on Clinton’s Health
“Donald Trump’s strategy for handling the news about Hillary Clinton’s spell of ill health will be to keep quiet,” Bloomberg reports.
“The Republican presidential nominee in the past has had trouble resisting the temptation to pounce on his rivals when he sees an opening… Instead of coming out swinging like he often does, the plan is for him and his campaign aides to refrain from commenting on the bystanders’ videos that showed Clinton stumbling or collapsing as she was helped into her vehicle by staff and Secret Service agents, according to the people briefed on the strategy.”

Mexican Peso Tracks Trump’s Performance
“If you want to know how Donald Trump is doing, all you need to do is check the Mexican peso,” Bloomberg reports.
“Over the past four months, Mexico’s currency has repeatedly declined when Trump’s election outlook improves and rallied when his odds of winning slump. The peso tumbled to a 2 1/2-month low Monday after his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, canceled a two-day trip to California because she’s suffering from pneumonia.”
Trump Is Just Pat Buchanan with Better Timing
Jeff Greenfield: “There’s a dose of Ross Perot, the billionaire businessman who declared himself free from the taint of elective politics. There’s the anti-elitist scorn of George Wallace, not to mention several spoonfuls of Wallace’s racial and ethnic resentment. There’s the rallying of the forgotten captured by Louisiana’s Huey Long back in the 1930s.”
“But to a remarkable extent, just about all of the themes of Trump’s campaign can be found in Buchanan’s insurgent primary run a quarter-century ago: the grievances, legitimate and otherwise; the dark portrait of a nation whose culture and sovereignty are threatened from without and within; the sense that the elites of both parties have turned their backs on hard-working loyal, traditional Americans. The limits of that campaign—and the success of Trump’s, in seizing the nomination of a major political party—are a measure of just how much our politics have changed in the past 25 years.”
