Akin Eyes Possible Comeback Bid
Former Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO), a conservative who lost to Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), in 2012, after he made controversial comments about rape that became national news, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he is still exploring his future and that he has not ruled out challenging Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) in a primary.
Said Akin: “Roy has burned a lot of bridges with a lot of conservatives in the state. Anything is a possibility.”
McCaskill Will Stay in the Senate
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said she will not run for governor in 2016 — staying put in the U.S. Senate, USA Today reports.
“McCaskill’s decision to forgo the governor’s race comes after months of speculation about her political ambitions, fueled in part by her fundraising largess. She donated more than $500,000 to Democratic state legislative candidates and party committees in the 2014 election cycle.”
McCaskill Book Delayed Until Next Summer
Sen. Claire McCaskill’s (D-MO) forthcoming book, tentatively titled Plenty Ladylike, was expected by the end of 2014 but has been delayed until July 2015, the Kansas City Star reports.
“The Missouri Democrat has promised the full story of her 2012 victory over Todd Akin, and the tome may include other insider score-settling as well.”
